Have You Forgotten How to Dream?

Do you dream of being an astronaut, a firefighter, a ballerina, or a school teacher? Or are those dreams just for the kid in you, packed away in your kindergarten lunch box, buried deep in your parents attic? Do you even remember your childhood dreams?

What do you dream of now? Getting away for a fabulous vacation, retiring early and buying a vacation home in Italy, or maybe just getting through life without any major problems?

I believe that our dreams and desires are from God. They are a reflection of how He created us and can use us to fulfill His great commission. As we grow older and life gets in the way, we unlearn how to dream. The logical side of our brain takes over and we turn into survival mode.

How sad.

How boring!

A world full of people who don't have dreams. Who just want to get through life. Work for the weekends, save for retirement, die and go to heaven. Phew! Made it.

Yuck!

God has so much more in store for all of us. We just need to tap in to what He's called us to do because that is how He wired us. We will flourish when we are walking the path that He ordained for us before we were even formed in our mother's womb.

What's your dream?

What is it that makes you love Jesus more? That burns in your bones? That is probably what He's called you to do.

For me, it's writing and inspiring others. Nothing grows my passion for Him and His house than when I can talk to someone and inspire them to realize and live out their purpose. And the writing. Oh the writing. I may not be a professional or any good for that matter. But when I write, it's like He's right in front of me. I could write for hours. Most of the time it's just for Him and I'm okay with that.

I just really want people to live the life they're meant for. To get to the end and know that they made a difference in someone else's life. Ultimately, we're here for others, not for ourselves.

You're never too old or too young to start living out the dream that God put in your heart. Whether you're 9 or 99, dream a bigger dream. It's your right. God gave it to you!
