Flourish one word 2015

Well, here it is. On this thirteenth day of the year, I'm finally giving you my "word." This has become a fun little tradition for me and looking back over the last few years it's turned out to be quite prophetic. I don't really like to rush into setting my goals and choosing my word for one reason. I want God to be a part of it.

In 2013 my word was Expectant. Because I was expecting God to move in my life and I was expecting nothing less than extraordinary. That's exactly what He did. He moved in me and through me. I started writing and dreaming like never before.

In 2014 my word was Increase. Wow! If you know ANYTHING about me or what my 2014 looked like, you know that there was increase. Increase in my capacity, increase in my dreams, increase in my business... you name it.

Needless to say after such an amazing year, I was a little nervous to even think about what 2015 could bring. I feel like I'm just settling in to this new season. I'm still learning and growing and thriving. So many times we want something new in the new year but I just got my new. It's like all of the things you want to happen just happened. So I was stumped.

And then God gave me this verse:

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
                                                    Ps. 92:12

And it dawned on me. I didn't need to strive for something new. God was already doing a new thing in me. It already started and it's not time for me to change or shift gears yet. It's time for me to sink my roots deep into this season He's called me to. It's time to allow God's goodness to soak in. Like roots that have been thirsty in a drought, I'm tasting that sweet water from the first rain.

1. to be in a vigorous state; thrive: a period in which art flourished.
2. to be in its or in one's prime; be at the height of fame, excellence, influence, etc.
3. to be successful; prosper.
4. to grow luxuriantly, or thrive in growth, as a plant.

I am so looking forward to all this year holds. I feel like I've finally stepped onto the course that God has called me to run and I'm just getting going. It's time to really grow in all areas of my life and take things a little more seriously. To take ownership in my calling and live my life to the fullest.

If you feel like you just don't know what it is you're called to do, don't worry. Rest in Him. Start living out some of your dreams. When you start to walk and live in your calling, you'll know.
