GRAB CORIE'S BESTSELLING DECLUTTER SYSTEM!

Simple Fashion // My Honest Review of StitchFix

home life simplicity Oct 07, 2014

I recently signed up for a service called StitchFix. A stylist customizes a box of clothes for you (5 pieces) based on your size, taste, budget, etc. and it gets shipped to your door however often you choose. As someone who rarely gets out to shop and hasn't bought decent clothes in who knows how long, I was really excited to try this! And the best part is, you have 3 days to try on the clothes in your own home and send back whatever you don't want in a prepaid postage bag that comes in your shipment. It's so simple!

When you sign up for StitchFix you go through a series of questions on your taste, what you wear most often, what kind of styles you love and what kind you hate.

They even show you images with groups of clothing and you can choose whether you like it, love it, don't like it, or hate it.

There is so much detail in every question which gives your stylist a real sense of who you are. I was pleasantly surprised with how much you get to tell the stylist.

You can even give them a link to your style board on pinterest. I did this and then immediately went and pinned as many outfits as I could.

When I got my first box, it was like they had read my mind! I LOVE leopard. I mean. You don't even know. And that was the first thing I saw when I opened the box!! YIPEE!!!! Each item I pulled out was beautiful. There were a few things I would have never even picked off of a rack to try on and I was surprised with how much I really liked them. If anything, this has taught me to go out on a limb with the clothes I wear. There is some really cute stuff out there and often, as a stay at home mom, I find myself wearing the same. exact. thing. EVERY DAY!

Ok, I know you all want to know if it was worth it! Below is a picture of some of the StitchFix items I received.

Top Left: The black vest (I would never buy a vest but I LOVED it!)
Top Right: Leopard cardigan and skinny jeans
Bottom Left: Dress
Bottom Right: Tank

I honestly loved each piece! The quality on most of them was better than what I normally buy. The cardigan was a little thin but I live in Southern California so I don't need it to be heavy. The jeans are amazing. They are the most comfortable jeans I've had in quite some time.

The cost. Honestly it's all a little more than I would normally spend. I did let my stylist know that. BUT. If you keep all 5 items, you get a 20% discount which actually brought them down to what I would spend. The average per item ended up being $40. I felt like for the jeans and dress that is a steal. For the other items, a little high. But averaging out made them worth it. Plus, they price match. If you find the same item cheaper within 7 days they'll refund you the difference AND give that price to all future clients receiving that item.

When your stylist chooses your pieces, you are charged a $20 styling fee. This can be added to anything you decide to keep. Check out is a breeze. It's done online and you can comment on each piece about how well it fit and if the price was right. I love that they give you a voice in this process. I really do feel like I have a personal shopper.

I don't usually spend much on clothes. I'm a TJ Maxx girl or any kind of discount store. But the hours this saved me in shopping and trying things on and ultimately ending up frustrated at not finding anything made this experience well worth it. I highly suggest every woman giving it a try if you can fit it into your budget.

You can choose every month, every other month or even more frequent for your shipments. You can cancel at any time. It really is a no brainer in my opinion.

Do I think I'll always be this happy? No clue! But I'm anxious to see what my next box holds! It may not have saved me money but it saved me time and that is so valuable to me. Especially when my shopping trips are usually for the kids or the home. This is something special I can do for myself without taking time away from my family or work.
