It's been a little over a year since I wrote my first post on this here blog. Hard to believe how far I've come and at the same time, how far I have yet to go. But I wouldn't be here if I hadn't taken millions of simple steps. One simple step at a time. My very first post was on taking the first step and it's lead to endless possibilities, frustrations, joy, and pain.
I think of how different my life would look had I not taken the simple first step of publishing that first post. I was scared out of my mind. Thinking to myself, who do you think you are? A writer? Ha! That first step, as terrifying as it was, gave me strength. It gave me courage. With every post I became a little more brave. With every post, I became a little more seasoned.
And so it will be for the rest of my life. I will take one step towards what it is I feel God is telling me to do. The steps may not always pan out or lead me down the road I want. But at least I'll be moving forward. Even if it's just an inch. Even if it causes me to take a few steps back. I will always take the next step that I need to take.
If you feel like you're at a dead end. Like you have nowhere else to go and you're getting there fast. Look ahead. When you learn to drive, you are taught to look ahead. To see through the turns. If you look straight down, you're toast. You'll veer off the road and crash. The same goes with following the path God wants you on. When we look down at the mess we're in or the circumstances that surround us and don't keep our eyes focused on what's ahead, we'll crash. It can be scary to look away from it all but there is so much protection and love in His eyes. Focus there and you'll get through. And with every step, he'll show you the next one.
