On July 15th, a little over 2400 people agreed to go on an adventure. This adventure was created by Jon Acuff, author of the book Start, in order to create community and challenge people to face their fears and start something.
Everyone picked one risk to work on for 24 days and we were split into groups of 24. Some people are writing books, some are starting businesses, some are trying to lose weight, and some are trying to refocus their lives so that they can figure out what their dream is. No matter what the risk is or how different it may be from someone else's, we are a community. We are encouraging each other and helping each other. I honestly believe that the risks that were taken this past month will help make the world a better place.
The most important thing I've taken from this experiment is that facing your fears, sharing your dreams, and everything in between, is so much easier with others standing along side you.
Jon will be starting another START Experiment in the next week or so and I highly encourage you to join. Like he says in the video below, there is something about putting a fence around something and making it a community.
I think that when we put up a boundary we feel safer to move around and test the waters within that boundary. Jon put up a fence around 2400 people and we are free to share our fears, struggles, and successes. It is showing us what we are capable of and pushing ourselves to do more.
I hope you'll join me on the next adventure, no matter what your risk is.
