How to Plan Your Day as a Work-at-Home Mom

How to Plan Your Day as a work-at-home mom

I've been working from home for years and although I'd love to say I've perfected it, that would be far from the truth. But I must say, I'm pretty darn good at making a plan and executing it as well as I possibly can.

The talk of the town these days is to block your days. That might work great for someone who's single, doesn't have kids, or has an office to themselves. But for the work at home mom, mamapreneur, boss-babe with her hands in too many activities, it's just plain impossible. What I would like to suggest is mini-blocks. AKA get as much done in one area as fast as you can... kidding kidding... well, sorta.

First things first.

Be Flexible

Depending on how old your kids are and whether or not they are at school, you'll have to have some flexibility. I like to come up with plan A and know that plan B, C, D, or even Z is ok. I will not die if things don't go as planned. Give yourself grace, mama!

Shoot for the stars

Plan your day as...

Finding Work-Life Balance

business family life Aug 14, 2018

Work Life balance

Many say balance is a myth. I disagree. I am a firm believer in finding balance and know that it can be found if you truly desire it. But, balance is ever changing and in order to find that balance you have to know when it’s shifting so you can too.

When I set out to simplify our lives back in 2014, I quickly realized that our lives were completely out of balance. We were stretched so thin in every area of our lives that if there was a slight shift in one area, it would cause some sort of problem in another. When we created some margin in each area of our lives, it created a much more balanced lifestyle and peaceful atmosphere.

This is exactly how we find work-life balance.

We create margin. Know our values. And know when something needs to change.

Over the last four years, our lives have changed in the wildest way. We now run a full-fledged business from our home while raising three kids (two are homeschooled), serving at our church, and keeping...

How to Get Started

business life Aug 06, 2018

One of the most common questions I'm asked is, "How do I get started?"

And the answer is a lot easier than you might think.

You see, you don't need money. Or a college degree. You don't even need to know what your end goal is.

All you need is to simply need to get started.

I know, I know, you want all the little details. You want a step by step action plan and a guide to lead you and show you exactly how to take that first step. But for reals, sister, there is NO GUIDE! There is no 5 simple steps to get started. Although I could certainly make some up and give them to you if I wanted to ;)

If I've learned anything the last four years of running this multiple six-figure business, it's that you just have to start.

Want to know how I started?

I started by writing one blog post. That led to more blog posts which then lead to a book. Then, the book led a planner, and then courses, and finally a VIP Member's Lounge. Do you think I knew that one blog post would lead me to where I am today?...

5 Things to Do When You're Feeling Overwhelmed

business life simplicity Aug 03, 2018

Do you constantly find yourself feeling overwhelmed? It's so easy for me to get overwhelmed. Yes, me, the simplicity and planner girl. But it still happens. This life is non stop and very full. Full of fun, commitments, joy, and pain. And I know who holds it all. And I pray. And I hand it over to Him. But all too often, the overwhelm sneaks in. So when it does, these are the 5 things I do to let go of it:

1. Stop. Breathe. Pray.
When I start to feel that panic set in, I stop what I'm doing, close my eyes, take a deep breath, and pray. I hand it all over to God because everything I'm doing needs to be for Him and through Him.

2. Brain Dump
I make a list of all the things I need to do. Getting it all out of your head helps to keep things in perspective. When we keep it all in our mind, we often think there's a lot more to do and then we end up wasting time worried about our big list that really isn't that big. I keep this going throughout each day in my planner and it's a...

Staying Focused in the Chaos

5 Steps to Finding Focus - Staying Focus in the Chaos

Entrepreneur bed laptop

Chaos seems to be the new norm and there's no end in sight. With every shortcut that technology gives us it seems to open a door to another task on our to do list and before we know it we're doing a bunch of menial tasks from dawn 'til dusk. But how can someone who wants to live a purposeful life, follow their dreams, run a business, or even just be a decent wife and mom, stay focused on the important in the midst of a hurricane of chaos?

We have to get focused and in all honesty it ain't easy. It's a noisy world and we have hundreds of things vying for our attention every second of the day. The only way to quiet the noise is to not let it in in the first place.

Over the last few years I've become the queen of saying no. I used to be a yes girl. And my instinct still is to say yes. I'm a people pleaser by nature and I really do enjoy giving to and serving others. But the more things I say yes to, the more things I have to...

30 FREE Instagram Story Highlight Covers to Help Build Your Brand

30 FREE Instagram Story Highlight Covers

Instagram has got to be my favorite social media platforms and the Instagram Story Highlight feature is such a fun addition! It's especially great if you're trying to build your brand by giving new followers a chance to see some of your best content. If you haven't utilized this feature yet, I highly recommend doing so.

Which stories should I highlight?

The stories you choose to highlight are completely up to you but I would suggest starting with the main categories behind your brand. If you're a food blogger, you'll want some highlights of your best recipes. If you're a photographer, you'll want an Instagram story highlight of some of your best work.

For me, my personal brand has many different facets so I have several highlights created and I try to add to them a few times a week.
I've created 30 amazing story covers so you don't have to! Choose between the png files and use them as is, or download the psd. files so that you can edit...

How to make Bulletproof Coffee and the benefits

How to make Bulletproof coffee

We've been drinking bulletproof coffee for quite some time now and I love it! It tastes delicious, fills me up, and fuels my brain.  This podcast episode is what turned me on to it. I highly recommend listening because you'll learn so much about how healthy fats are actually good for you and the science behind the coffee.

We buy the Bulletproof Brand coffee because it is mold free (you'll learn more about this if you listen to that episode). We add Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil and organic grass-fed butter. It's really tasty and fuels your brain and body enough to stay in ketosis and push back your first meal until lunch time or even later.

When I'm traveling and can't bring my grass-fed butter and oil with me, I use KETO//KREME which you can read more about in my Keto tips post.

Back to Bulletproof.

I personally buy my products from Amazon and put them on Subscribe & Save to save money. The Bullet Proof Brand...
