Back to School Prep for the Mompreneur

*This post may include affiliate links. Read our policy here.

As much as I do NOT want summer to come to an end, there's just something about prepping for Back to School that gets my little organizational heart pumping. I LOVE buying school supplies (even if they aren't for the kids ), purging everything in the house, meal planning and prepping, and basically anything that will make me feel like I'm winning in the Mom department!

But here's the deal, sister.

I have A LOT on my plate and I know you do too. Running this business is a full time job. And taking care of the kids is a full time job. And being a wife, and a friend, and a woman is more than a full time job. I get you. I KNOW you're coming here for a little help because you are about to lose your ever. loving. mind!

So here's the plan. And I'm keeping it simple because that is how I roll. No Marie Kondo up in here. Ain't nobody got time for that.

1. I'm getting rid of #allthethings. All...

Best Essential Oils for the Fall & Winter

Best essential oils for the fall & winter

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is the scents. Living in Southern California doesn’t really give us that “fall feeling” when we step outside so we like to improvise and create a fall or winter feeling right inside our home. There's nothing like walking in to your home to the smell of the holidays to make you forget that it's 80 degrees outside ;) I used to want to stock up on all the fall candles but since using essential oils, I’ve learned to appreciate the natural scents filling my home instead of the harsh smells that some candles can give.

Whether it’s for the smell of it or to help keep my family healthy in the cold and flu season, essential oils are a must this time of year. I've been using essential oils for quite some time and I've tried the "other guys" but I'm a huge fan of Rocky Mountain Oils. You can read about why we chose this amazing...

Mrs. Meyer's Holiday Scents Are Back!

family home life Nov 01, 2018

This post was sponsored by Grove Co. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience. To read my disclosure policy click here.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Why? It's my Birthday Month!! Oh, and it's time to start gearing up for the holidays, parties, and so much more.

This also kicks me into cleaning overdrive (but truthfully, it's either my hubby or a housekeeper doing the dirty work ;) )

Mrs. Meyer's Holiday Scents

Fortunately, it's also the time of year when Mrs. Meyer's holiday scents return. I've always been a fan of Mrs. Meyer's products but the holiday scents are my fav!!

This year, Mrs. Meyer's is bringing back three crowd favorites: Iowa Pine, Peppermint, and Orange Clove. I've been waiting all year for Peppermint to return, because there's nothing like the scent of peppermint and candy canes to get me in the Christmas spirit!

Right now, you can get a free Mrs. Meyer's trio in your choice of scents, plus a free set of Grove Collaborative walnut...

How to Plan Your Day as a Work-at-Home Mom

How to Plan Your Day as a work-at-home mom

I've been working from home for years and although I'd love to say I've perfected it, that would be far from the truth. But I must say, I'm pretty darn good at making a plan and executing it as well as I possibly can.

The talk of the town these days is to block your days. That might work great for someone who's single, doesn't have kids, or has an office to themselves. But for the work at home mom, mamapreneur, boss-babe with her hands in too many activities, it's just plain impossible. What I would like to suggest is mini-blocks. AKA get as much done in one area as fast as you can... kidding kidding... well, sorta.

First things first.

Be Flexible

Depending on how old your kids are and whether or not they are at school, you'll have to have some flexibility. I like to come up with plan A and know that plan B, C, D, or even Z is ok. I will not die if things don't go as planned. Give yourself grace, mama!

Shoot for the stars

Plan your day as...

Finding Work-Life Balance

business family life Aug 14, 2018

Work Life balance

Many say balance is a myth. I disagree. I am a firm believer in finding balance and know that it can be found if you truly desire it. But, balance is ever changing and in order to find that balance you have to know when it’s shifting so you can too.

When I set out to simplify our lives back in 2014, I quickly realized that our lives were completely out of balance. We were stretched so thin in every area of our lives that if there was a slight shift in one area, it would cause some sort of problem in another. When we created some margin in each area of our lives, it created a much more balanced lifestyle and peaceful atmosphere.

This is exactly how we find work-life balance.

We create margin. Know our values. And know when something needs to change.

Over the last four years, our lives have changed in the wildest way. We now run a full-fledged business from our home while raising three kids (two are homeschooled), serving at our church, and keeping...

Keto Tips For an Everyday Girl

Keto tips for an everyday girl

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor and have no medical background. You should always consult your physician before changing your diet or exercise program.

Over the summer of 2017 I was introduced to a ketogenic diet. Now, I wasn't really into the word "diet" especially over the summer. So I dabbled in it a bit, lost a few pounds, and felt great. Then the school year hit and life went to crazy town. We started eating yummy fall comfort food, celebrated my 40th birthday, celebrated my sister's 30th birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas... you know the drill!

But over the months, between our carb-filled parties, we tried to maintain a mostly ketogenic diet. Not for the weight loss but because we actually feel really good when we eat that way. FULL, energetic, and happy!

When you are in ketosis, your body is burning fat for fuel instead of glucose and it turns fat into ketones which then supplies energy to your brain.

7 Tips for getting into (and staying in)...

Navigating Family

Navigating Family Photo By: James Young Photography

The journey of raising a family is ever winding and has enough mountaintops and valleys to make your head spin. But far and above the trials and stress, is the joy. And the joy is exhilarating. Being mom to my three kids is by far the greatest thing I’ve ever done.

18 Years

I’ve been a mom for almost eighteen years now. Well, I guess I can technically say eighteen years since I was pregnant with Parker eighteen years ago. I would never have imagined, in my wildest dreams, the wonder of watching a baby grow into a child, then into a teenager, and finally becoming an adult.

Even more wonderful? Watching three different little humans become exactly who they were created to be.

If I dwell on the fact that my babies are becoming adults for too long, I’ll be in a puddle of tears so I’ll keep this short and sweet.

Soak. It. In.

I know everyone will say this to you when you’ve got littles around your...
