Interrupted By Jen Hatmaker

Can you be interrupted? I hope so. I recently had the honor of previewing the re-release of Jen Hatmaker's book, Interrupted. My, oh my. This is the stuff, people. I mean. She took everything that's been whirling around inside my tiny brain for the past five years and added her pretty little words to it and, BAM! Read it. That's all I have to say. Do yourself a favor and get your copy. Yesterday.

I was interrupted. It happened to me several years ago and it's an ongoing process. It's actually all part of a book I've been writing but I'm not even sure that should be a thing now. People might be all like, this girl wants to be Jen Hatmaker {which would be partially true}. But I promise I never read her book until this last month. I fell in love with Jen on her blog. She is hilarious and gives me hope as a mother who likes to use sarcasm when disciplining her kids. She speaks my language. Everything that comes out of her mouth has been in my brain before. #notcreepyatall

Ok. Sorry. I'm supposed to be talking to you about Interrupted. It's part of the deal so that I could read it before all of you. Which might be a total lie because you quite possibly read it when it first came out. But, most of you know her for her book, 7 which was AMAZING. I just finished that one too. I laughed through months 1-5 and then cried through month 7 and the conclusion.

Back to Interrupted. Clearly, my brain is easily interrupted. But this book is about SO MUCH MORE! If you ever feel like going to church and reading your Bible just aren't doing it for you, like there's more, a hole in your heart that you know Jesus is supposed to fill but something's just not right, this book is for you. I don't want to give you too many details because she's way better at conveying her message. But this book, you guys. It had me at hello.

God plucked me and my family out of complacent, comfortable, safe Christianity and dropped us into the deep end of struggle, injustice, brokenness, and a hurting humanity. Whatever used to be soft and squishy about faith gave way to a stunning urgency an painful acknowledgement of the mission at hand.

Hi. Yes. That's MEEE!!!! That's what I want. And I hope, dear friends, that's what you want too. There HAS to be more to this life than the daily grind and being good little Christian girls and boys. We must allow God to interrupt our pretty little lives and take us into the trenches just like Jesus.

I pray that God wrecks you in the best of ways. I pray he raises up in you a holy passion. Get the book. I promise, you won't be disappointed. Plus, she's doing an online study for it this fall.

So tell me, what do you think God is interrupting you for?
