One very important section of my book is on the subject of time. We have got to be the busiest generation to walk this planet. It's quite maddening most of the time. We're running around like there's no tomorrow, biting off more than we can chew, signing our kids up for every sport and club under the sun. You know the drill.
And while most of the things we're doing aren't necessarily bad, they aren't necessarily for our own good either. The best way you can simplify your schedule is by taking a good look at how you're spending your time. When you really look at how you're spending each and every hour, you may find that you're actually wasting a lot of time. Time that you could spend doing things that are of more importance.
How many times do you catch yourself being sucked into your phone only to realize it's been an hour? An hour! Do you know what you can do in an hour? Read a book, write a letter, visit a friend, take a long bath, write a blog post...all those things we say we never have time for. So we actually do have the time but we're instead spending it on meaningless things.
If we want to simplify our schedule and create some margin in our lives, we've got to become more intentional. Knowing what we want to do with our time and making sure we do it. Turning off our phones. Saying no to things that don't fit in with our life purpose or will send us over the edge. Saying yest to the things that matter. Life is too short to waste our hours or minutes away.
You can find out more on how I simplified my schedule and created enough margin to run my home, homeschool my kids, and write a book without losing my sanity in my book The Simplicity Project. Let's take our lives back and live them on purpose.
