The Best Skinny Margarita Recipe - Natural & Low Carb

home life Aug 25, 2017

My hubby and I are big fans of skinny margaritas but not big fans of artificial sweeteners and pre-made mixes. We've tried our fair share of skinny margaritas and Ryan has come up with the best skinny margarita recipe ever! He's actually becoming quite famous among friends and family. Friends are slightly disappointed if he shows up to a party without his skinny margs in tow.

The key to a good skinny margarita is a smooth tequila. We prefer Costco's brand of Tequila Silver but any good silver or blanco tequila will do. The smoother the tequila, the less sugar you'll need. The next step is a good lime juice. I honestly don't feel like squeezing my own so we opt for Nellie and Joe's Key West Lime Juice. We also prefer the taste of simple syrup so we buy organic sugar and make our own. Simply bring one cup of water and one cup of sugar to a boil and remove from heat. You can use agave if you'd like but we simply don't like the taste of it in this margarita.

5 Money Saving Tips for Your Home

Money. Don't we need it, love it, hate it, and want more of it. We often think it will solve our problems if we just had a little more. And when we do, we only want more and more! As Christians, we sometimes confuse the verse 1 Timothy 6:10 with thinking that money is "evil." Taking a look at the verse a little closer, we see that the love of money is actually the culprit. In reality, when money is managed correctly and within our means, it can be helpful and do good! I wanted to share 5 money saving tips for your home from my book The Simplicity Project to help you set new habits in motion today.

I know there are many aspects to how we handle our finances. Expenses, budgets, savings, the list goes one! BUT I will say that no matter if you are in a great place with your finances, or reevaluating what you've been doing, there are ways to stretch the green stuff. When my husband and I have had to rebuild our emergency fund a number of different times, we've pinched pennies...

Create Space for Simplicity in the Busy

family home life simplicity Feb 28, 2017

create space, simplistic living

Do you ever ask someone how they are doing and they answer, "I'm so busy"? I don't think this is a new response, and I'm even guilty of using it myself! Even with my Purposeful Planner, I still have laundry, dishes, shopping, kid's games, church, obligations, family, and MORE on my plate. I totally understand the word busy as a mom of 3. But if we aren't careful, busy becomes an excuse to put off the life giving moments of quiet. We need to create space for simplicity in the busyness to live a life of intention.

Life is meant to be lived simply whether we realize it or not. In our "yes" culture, we say yes to so many tasks, responsibilities, and roles. Before we know it, we are stretched beyond our capacity to give fully to any one thing in particular. Which often makes us tired and resentful of being involved in anything at all. God did not intend this for us! He meant for us to live richly by being present.

This starts by saying no, even to the good things. And yes, to...

A Simple Christmas

family home life Dec 13, 2016

A Simple Christmas

It's hard to believe that Christmas is here, yet again. Every year, I tell myself, you're going to simplify! You're going to be done with all your shopping by November! You're going to bake all of your holiday treats! And every year, I fall short. I'm sure you're feeling the same way. With all of the events that seem to fill up the calendar, it's hard to find time to shop and bake, let alone breathe! I've had grand ideas of creating a Simplicity Project, Christmas Edition but that's funny right there. Too much on my plate so it will have to wait.

Instead I've created a few resources that I hope will help you simplify and still be sure to get in some of the important activities that come around only this time of year. First, I thought I'd give you a few tips to get back on track and pull you out of that losing your mind feeling and into the reality that you can, in fact, do this!

Simple thins you can do right now to simplify Christmas

  1. Pull out your planner or...

Simplify Your Meal Planning

Simplify Meal Planning with Purposeful Planner and MyFreezEasy

Purposeful Living is not just about setting goals and living them out. There is so much more involved and you've got to simplify some key areas of your life if you want the margin it takes to live on purpose. In my book, The Simplicity Project, I talk about four key areas that need to be simplified in order to find peace and purpose.

4 Areas to simplify

  • Health
  • Home
  • Finances
  • Time

Most of the times these areas bleed into each other and by simplifying one thing you in fact simplify all of them.

This is why I'm a HUGE fan of menu planning! It keeps you healthy, saves you time, and saves you lots of money! And we all could use a little more of that, right?! As much as I'm a huge fan of menu planning for those reasons, I'm not a fan of actually sitting down with recipes, making the plan, making my grocery list, yada yada yada.

That is why I'm so excited to share MyFreezEasy with you! MyFreezEasy was created by Erin Chase and it takes freezer cooking to the next level. As...

Summer Drink Recipe: Prosecco & Popsicles

Prosecco and Popsicle Cocktails 2

Prosecco & Popsicle Cocktails

There's nothing better than a nice cold glass of bubbly on a hot day. Oh, wait. There is something better. Bubbly with a popsicle!

I was in New York recently and visited the Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar where the specialty was a glass of prosecco with a homemade ice pop in it. They were deelish! I of course needed to recreate these beauties.

Now, I'm not the kind to make my own icepops but there are definitely some delicious, real fruit, popsicles out there that get the job done!

All you need is your favorite prosecco and a fruit flavored popsicle. Voila! You have yourself a delicious, ice cold cocktail that's too cute for words!

Summer Must Haves

Summer is my absolute favorite season. I love being in the sun, laying on the beach or by the pool, barbecuing with friends, and all of the other amazing things that come with this time of year.

So I thought it would be fun to do a round-up of all of the fun things that are a must have during those hot summer months! Cheers!

This is my go-to foundation. I love that it goes on smooth, blends well with my skin, and stays on ALL. DAY. LONG. Plus it has SPF in it which is just a win-win for me! I'm always in the sun and I don't have to worry about putting some greasy sunscreen on my face.

Swell Bottle Bikini Pink

Peach, Tomato, Burrata Salad with Homemade Croutons

family home life Jun 22, 2016

Summer is here and that means it's time for delicious summer food! This Peach, Tomato, Burrata Salad will leave you begging for more!

Now, if you know me at all you know that I do not like to cook. At all. My husband does most of the cooking around here {#blessed} and I ain't complaining about it one bit! But every once in a great while I get the urge to make something fantastic. And last night was one of those nights.

A couple of weeks ago we were at a friends house for a monthly dinner that she hosts. My friend Meredith goes out of her way when hosting. She makes THE MOST delicious food I've ever eaten. I mean. She even makes a burger bar into something magical. On this particular night she made the most amazing salad with peaches, tomatoes, burrata {if you haven't tried burrata then go buy some stat}, basil, and homemade croutons. It was to die for.

The original recipe can be found at Art de Fete but I did a little tweaking. I also used the Pioneer Woman's recipe for Homemade...

20 Books To Read This Spring

business faith home life Apr 06, 2016

20 Books to read this springI LOVE books! I love to read, I love to hold the book in my hands, I love to smell the pages, I love to dog-ear pages, I LOVE books! But I am super crappy about actually sitting down to read them and finish them. There are so many books I want to read and so little time to squeeze them in. So I've marked my planner with reading times and I'm trying my best to stick to them.

I just finished reading The Husband's Secret. I pretty much love anything by Liane Moriarty. I read What Alice Forgot first. It was definitely my favorite of her books that I've read. It really made me think about the decisions I've made in my life and if I would be happy with who I am if I woke up and thought I was 10 years younger. I love the way Liane writes and intertwines social issues that most of us face but don't talk about. I really do feel like I know the characters in her books. Big Little Lies was great as well. Seriously. These books are keepers in my opinion and I'll probably read...
